Question: Can one oppose the war and "support the troops" at the same time?

This has bothered me for a long time but I couldn't put my finger on the flaw until recently. There is a fundamental flaw in the move to "support the troops" once a military operation starts. My feeling now is that you can't have it both ways and this monicker started as a way to silence the anti-war movement. Any thoughts?
